Keyboarding Position Statement: FCSD acknowledges that the benefits of formalized keyboarding instruction extend beyond the isolated skill set. The correlation between increased critical thinking, productivity and accountability, problem solving, and creativity merits the continuation of a District keyboarding program. Technological fluency is increased when students conquer the obstacle of basic typing; one can equate it to letter/sound recognition in the spectrum of reading development or math facts in the light of deeper conceptual mathematical thinking.
